Through a research work around the human conducted in 2017 and finalized in the form of a book about forty pages combining surrealist texts and images, this serie speaks about the life of Hélène, 31 years at the time of the project. She is a resident of “l’Arche à Paris”, a association helping people with mental disabilities. She reveals herself in all its realism and honesty, decked out with endearing shyness. The red thread becomes a metaphor for her states of minds. It represents what she does not dare to say. I wanted to speak directly to Hélène, and to express to her my feelings about her life and her choices, as a declaration of love. This serie focuses only on a simple idea: Hélène is not defined by the eyes of the others. So I tried to follow her in her everyday life, and then to bring her into an element where she is not comfortable and that she does not know a lot: the photographic studio. As she unfolded, it gave me a glimpse of the conscious, ultra-positive, and funny person she his. In short, I tried to pay tribute to self-acceptance, happiness, and tenderness. Because even if the misunderstanding of others is omnipresent, we can not apologize for being oneself.
